'Five Nights At Freddy's 4' news: teaser image 'bites'

As game developer Scott Cawthon trickles away creepy teasers for "Five Nights at Freddy's 4," he ups the scare factor a notch. The latest image he shared is so far the most terror-inducing puzzler to date and undoubtedly, the one with the most salacious clues.

Cawthon reiterates the point-and-click horror survival game's official release in Halloween, with the date scribed over what is believed — after fans deciphered codes mined from Cawthon's Web source — to be Nightmare Fredbear, looking twice as petrifying than usual.

The killer animatronic's razor-sharp teeth dominate the photo as much as his purple bowtie, which is the only element in the photo that's colored. The scratches and slits, made to look like dripping blood, on his body are just plain chilling, too.

Stitched on his big rotund tummy, which earned the character in the image the moniker Fat Freddy, is another set of teeth. This, for Design & Trend, may be a hint that "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" will delve into the mystery of the Bite of '87, which was the initial speculation of fans all along.

The fated event where an animatronic bit a kid led to the bankruptcy and closing of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a place that was once a youngster's paradise, with animatronics singing to them and making them happy, not sinking their teeth into their flesh.

Adjusting the contrast of the image, the letters "pr...me" can be seen just behind the deadly-looking creature. It is difficult to make sense of the letters but fans believe that it says "probably me," which continues the established pattern. Moreover, others also spotted words that say "or was it me."

Should fans hit the nail on the head on this one, it definitely follows the logic of what Cawthon has been alluding to over the past few weeks. Images of Springtrap, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy all contain the phrase, which hint that the mystery behind the Bite of '87 may soon be told.

Ultimately, Cawthon's teasers only bring up more questions than answers, which is why fans just can't wait for Halloween to get here so that the much-anticipated "Five Nights At Freddy's 4" game will finally be in their hands.
