"Five Nights at Freddy's" has turned into one of the most successful indie game series to date, despite a few hiccups with the launch of the "FNaF World" spin-off and the slow development on the movie adaptation. According to a new report from Gamespot, a console remake of the games are currently in discussion.

According to the report, developer Scott Cawthon responded to a fan asking on the Steam page if the original game will be released for consoles, particularly the Wii U. 

"Actually, yes," the developer answered, confirming that a console remake will be released soon. "It will happen. I'm talking with a few companies who are interested in doing console remakes of the original games."

It is important to note that Cawthon stated only the original games would be given a console remake for the time being, discounting the poorly received RPG spin-off, "FNaF World." It is likely that the first four games in the franchise will be bundled together in an HD remake for the Nintendo Wii-U, Xbox One and Playstation 4.

However, further responses show that Cawthon is no longer sure about a Wii-U port given that Nintendo is already working on the Nintendo NX. According to Cawthon, the console ports may release by 2017 and by then the NX would have already launched, hinting that the Nintendo port may be for the NX instead of the Wii-U. 

It is undetermined at this point if the console ports will add new features and chapters to the games or if they will simply be HD remasters.

While fans are waiting for the launch of the console ports of the original four titles, there is a new spin-off currently in development titled "Sister Location." It is speculated that the new spin-off will see a return to the horror themes and gameplay of the original game but will now be set in a brand new location other than Freddy Fazzbear's Pizzeria.
