The "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie and the new installment of the survival horror series "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" are still well on the cards, as per the latest reports.

Just recently, developer Scott Cawthon gave fans a good scare when he posted a banner on his website that read "cancelled due to leaks" as seen above.

This had gamers worried that "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" will not see the light of day. In the middle of the commotion that ensued following this, Cawthon updated the site with a date.

It featured a face of a clown animatronic with a date – Oct. 7, 2016. This was understood to be the release date of the highly-anticipated game. Interestingly, the Steam page of the game shows an Oct. 8 release date.

It is unclear whether it is a mistake or there will be significant events to expect on the separate dates. Either way, it looks like "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" is still a go.

As for the "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie, the lack of updates had many thinking that the project is no longer on the table.

It has been a year since it was announced, but the team behind it, even Cawthon, have not shared any new information. The last time they spoke about the film was earlier this year.

Last April, director Gil Kenan clarified that they are still working on the script. Around May, Cawthon said that they are still in the scriptwriting process.

It is being said that they might be having trouble putting the "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie together in a way the game would work as a film. However, rumors are still persistent that the projected release date is June 2018.

Kenan confirmed last year that the animatronics gang like Freddy Fazbear himself will not be computer-generated and will be the real deal. Jim Henson's Creature Shop will design and manufacture them.
