'Five Nights at Freddy's' crossover effort with 'Undertale' now scrapped

It was over before it really ever began for the crossover offering that would have involved two indie darlings of the video game world. The planned crossover game would have included both "Five Nights at Freddy's" and "Undertale."

According to Design and Trend, the trouble for the game began before it even managed to really get off the ground. Within hours of a trailer for "FNAFTALE," the crossover game's would-be name, being uploaded to YouTube, the complaints from both games' fan bases began almost immediately.

The comments and reactions from both fan bases became so aggressive, that some people were openly lobbing death threats at the game's aspiring developer, LSFDevelopment.

At first, LSFDevelopment responded to the criticism by calling out the fans who had been posing violent threats, but in the end, it looks as though the reactions became so visceral and frightening that the developer appears to have given in.

The trailer for the game has now been taken down from YouTube, and it also looks like the developer is content to permanently cancel the project, thanks in part to what has happened between the fan bases.

To be fair, some fans of both "Five Nights at Freddy's" and "Undertale" have expressed disappointment in the notion that the crossover effort will no longer be a reality.

The good news for "Five Nights at Freddy's" fans is that they will still have a new game to look forward to in the near future.

According to Game Rant, a new video game named "Five Nights at Freddy's World" will be coming out soon, most likely in 2016, although the exact date has yet to be announced.

The new game will introduce a different kind of playing style that has previously been absent in earlier games from the franchise.

Time will tell if "Five Nights at Freddy's" will embrace the new kind of game that will be released next year.
