'Five Nights at Freddy's World': 'FNaF' spin-off launches ahead of schedule

Previously, it was announced that the role-playing game inspired by the "Five Nights at Freddy's" series would be launching next month. However, developer Scott Cawthon is known to drop surprises for his fans, and this time, he also did not disappoint.

Much earlier than expected, the PC version for "Five Nights at Freddy's World" has now gone live and can already be downloaded via Steam.

The original announcement by Cawthon pegged the PC version to release on Feb. 19, with the mobile versions for the iOS and Android devices to come out later. Cawthon wrote on the game's Steam page, "FNaF World is coming along very well, despite these delays, and I plan on releasing it February 19th on Steam, and then for Android and iPhone in the following weeks."

However, with the PC version of "Five Night's at Freddy's World" already out, the Feb. 19 release date might now be when the mobile versions of the game roll out for the Apple Store and the Google Play Store.

Meanwhile, since the game has gone live, the feedback was lukewarm at best. Cawthon himself admitted that the game might have been released "too soon," and as a result, the title might have seemed rushed. A new post on the game's Steam page has Cawthon saying, "You know, I've been accused of rushing my games ever since 'FNaF 1,' but I've never felt that I'd released a game too early... until now."

The developer also added that there might have been some elements missing in the PC version like "... features that I was told about, but ignored and didn't implement. Features such as being able to see what abilities do during battle, or being able to see a stats page for your characters. These are features that any good RPG would have."
