'Five Nights at Freddy's World': Spin-off's release date announced

 Scott Cawthon's Indie DB page

Although the next installment in the "Five Nights at Freddy's" franchise is not a direct sequel but a spin-off game, hardcore fans are still anxiously waiting for its release. They will not have that long to wait as "Five Nights at Freddy's World" finally gets a release date. The upcoming Scott Cawthon title will launch next month.

According to Cawthon's latest post on the "Five Nights at Freddy's" Steam page, the spin-off will be released on Feb. 19. However, the developer also clarified that the rollout of "Five Nights at Freddy's World" will be on a staggered basis, with the said launch date only for PC (via Steam).

While the mobile versions do not have specific rollout dates stated, Cawthon promised that the iOS and Android versions of the game will release in the weeks to come.

GameSpot added that a demo version of "Five Nights at Freddy's World" will also be released on GameJolt.

Meanwhile, prior to the announcement of the release date, it seemed that Cawthon encountered some issues, though the developer stated that these were already resolved. The computer that Cawthon had been using since the first "Five Nights at Freddy's" title broke down.

"I had all of my work on FNaF World backed up, of course, but it's still quite a delay to get a new machine and reconfigure software, etc. I hope to be back up and running soon!" he said.

"Five Nights at Freddy's World" was announced late last year and, to the surprise of many who thought that it would be an "FNaF" sequel, is a spin-off. Cawthon said that the original franchise titles of "FNaF" ended with the fourth title, and "FNaF World" only derived characters from the series.
