"The Flash" season 2 is growing as each day passes, with a new love interest for Barry and the likelihood of Killer Frost and Vibe making an appearance. A new report also hints that The CW network might be adding one more hero to the mix.

According to a report from TVLine, the studios have released a casting call for a handsome, square-jawed man in his 30's to 40's who will portray a "slightly cynical man with an edge." The codename for this currently unidentified character is John Clark.

Katar Hol aka HawkmanDC Comics

Fans of DC Comics will recognize that John Clark is not the name of a superhero but is an iconic letterer who worked on several of DC's publications during the Golden Age of comic books. He did the letters and ink for Hawkman, The Spectre, Geoforce, as well as Jay Garrick. Garrick is the original Flash now delegated as an "Earth-2" superhero.

The "Flash" season 1 finale hinted at the existence of Jay Garrick when his helmet flew out of the vortex. It has been speculated by Cinema Blend that this "John Clark" is really The CW network looking for someone to cast as Jay Garrick.

However, the report from Cinema Blend also points out that the character is a little too old for this casting call but it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for the studios to just make him a little younger while still being older, wiser, and more experienced than Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).

The possibility of John Clark being Hawkman is also quite high given that Hawkgirl will be seen in the spin-off series "Legends of Tomorrow," to be played by Ciara Renee. There are many origin stories and continuities for Hawkman in the comics but in the current version, he is known as Katar Hol and is an alien from the planet Thanagar.

"The Flash" season 2 premieres this fall.
