The latest promotional trailer for "The Flash" season 2 reveals a few behind-the-scenes footage of how the special effects are done, but it also reveals a few sequences showing Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears). The trailer shows Garrick and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) clasping hands, apparently teaming up together as two Flashes. 

According to a report from ComicBook, the premiere episode will see Barry blaming himself for the death of Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) and has thus pushed his friends away as he tries to save the city all on his own. Central City has also recognized the Flash as a superhero and the trailers reveal that they have officially delegated a "Flash Day" to celebrate their hero. 

DenofGeek reveals that Garrick headed to Central City in order to warn Barry and his team about an "impending doom" that he cannot hope to stop by himself. This may be the main cause for bringing the two Flash heroes together. The report also states that Garrick may become a central figure very early on in the season. 

Jay Garrick was the Golden Age version of the Flash until DC Comics decided to reboot their lineup. During the Silver Age (1950s to the 1960s), Garrick was scrapped and a new Flash was designed, who became Barry Allen. Later on, DC Comics explained that both existed but in parallel worlds, a system that "The Flash" season 2 will apparently use to explain how these two exist with the same powers. 

However, whatever threat Garrick arrives to stop will have to be set aside as the premiere episode will first deal with Barry's reluctance to work with his friends. Ravaging through the city is the new villain known as the Atom Smasher (Adam Copeland) and it will be this villain that forces Barry to reunite with his allies.

"The Flash" season 2 premieres this Oct. 6.
