Floyd Mayweather next fight news 2015: Shuns Shawn Porter request for September bout

After winning via unanimous decision over Adrian Broner, Shawn Porter believes he deserves a shot at the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. this September.

Porter pulled out the win at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas against Broner, a known friend of the undefeated American boxer.

Despite the win, Mayweather feels that Porter is not yet ready for the main cards. Rather than call him out for a match, Porter was offered an undercard match against Errol Spence Jr. in the September 12, fight against a yet-to-be-named opponent.

Porter doesn't want an undercard and wants to fight Money Mayweather.

Try as he may, such doesn't seem to be happening. Mayweather is far from convinced that Porter deserves to be in the same ring with him, citing flaws that included an early 12th round knockdown which Mayweather says happened because of his own doing.

From the looks of it, Porter is trying to follow the same route that Marcos Maidana did back in 2013. Maidana got the opportunity when he handed Broner (ironically) his first defeat of his boxing career.

This time however, it looks like the odds are pretty different. Mayweather has something else in mind and with the fight being a special tiff, he doesn't see Porter as the likely opponent he wants to face as he (supposedly) winds up his boxing career.

Amir Khan is the one being rumored to be the opponent that Mayweather will be facing though nothing has been made official.

At the event, Mayweather did make mention of a couple of names (Andre Berto or Karim Mayfield) but many question the credibility of the said fighters who barely qualify in Mayweather's wish for one last 'Solid' fight.

Unless Mayweather finds another opponent similar or better than Khan, the odds on bet are that it will be the British boxer who will be in the ring this coming Fall.

Last fight? Many critics doubt Mayweather will hang his gloves up for good.
