Father and trainer of undefeated boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather recently told Fight Hype that a match with the Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao will 'definitely' happen, a claim that Mayweather Jr. debunked shortly.

"That fight's gonna happen. Trust me. That fight's definitely gonna happen. It's a fight for the world, man, right there," Mayweather Sr. exclaimed.  "You mark my words and we'll see. And it needs to happen. Just like Ali and Joe Frazier, or Ali and George Foreman, something like that, man, it's one of those fights like that. The world wants to see it and they'll want to see it again when Floyd beats Pacquiao." 

Mayweather Sr. was very firm and confident with the claim, saying his son is "gonna pick Pacquiao apart". However, Mayweather Jr. made an immediate follow up on Friday that his dad's claim contains no truth in it, adding that another burst out may get his dad kicked out as the trainer.

He said, "Like I said before, we have people constantly being removed from the Mayweather Promotions team, Team Mayweather, and we also have people being removed from The Money Team. I want my dad to be with my team, but if he continues to go out there and speak on things that he has no knowledge about without communicating with me, then I must get a new trainer."

With his statements, the possibility of the mega fight has slipped away. While on it, he was keen to not miss out the chance to say a thing or two about the Filipino boxer, particularly his performance over the recent years.

"I'm just saying, when Pacquiao was sleeping, everybody was like, 'Y'all crazy for trying to make that Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.' You know what's so crazy? I just look at the situation like this, ever since Ariza left Pacquiao, he hasn't had a knockout. What a coincidence!" Mayweather said.

If there is in fact a fight going on, the boxers have already started it years ago, with jabs and combinations in word form to taunt each other. The most recent one is the two boxers' blows at each other on Twitter.

Mayweather replied with photos of Pacquiao's knockdown in his latest fight with Marquez, with the caption, "Miss Pac Man is broke and desperate for a pay day. Your Pay-Per-View numbers are a joke."

In an interview in the Philippines, as quoted by ESPN, Pacquiao expressed that he is not angry at Mayweather, saying, "I still feel sorry for him because he acts like an uneducated person. It's pitiful to me and I'm praying for him."

Mayweather will be fighting in May next year, but definitely not with Pacquiao. He said, "Manny Pacquiao needs to focus on the guy in front of him. Once he gets past him, he can look to the future. If the Pacquiao fight presents itself, let's make it happen." 

The Filipino boxer, on the other hand, will return to the boxing ring with Chris Algeri on Nov. 22.

Pacquiao and Mayweather have been at each other's throats over the years and a fight in the ring is expected to be the only thing that would end it once and for all.
