Floyd Mayweather vs Andre Berto fight news 2015: A done deal, says Amir Khan

Despite a report from TMZ that the fight is as good as done, the fact is that the camps of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Andre Berto are still in negotiations for the match that will take place on September 12 in Las Vegas.

Berto is of course one of the two names that Mayweather mentioned before and while most folks thought he was bluffing, apparently he wasn't.

It was believed that Amir Khan was the leading candidate to face off with Mayweather in what was supposedly the latter's last fight. However, it seems that Mayweather has decided to take it easy with his upcoming fight. This also rescinds his earlier claim that he had wanted a solid opponent; no offense to Berto of course.

At stake is of course Mayweather's plan to equal the 49-0 record of Rocky Marciano, which many feel is good as done.

But as far as this being his last fight, people are certainly not buying it. Not even Amir Khan, the leading candidate who has accepted the fact that Mayweather and Berto is a done deal as well.

And like many, Khan is not buying the retirement angle. He believes that Mayweather will continue to fight next year and hopefully will consider him as the next opponent.

All this remains to be seen of course as Mayweather has been known to come up with surprises. In fact, a rematch with Manny Pacquiao is not discounted as well, even though both camps have vehemently shot down rumors of a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao II.

As for Khan, there is no word on who will he fight next. He could possibly get back into the ring this November against a yet-to-be-named opponent.

Kell Brook has been vocal about facing Khan but it seems that he has to prove himself first and face ranked fighters before Khan considers going up against his countryman.

Other names which Khan could be considering are Keith Thurman or even Marcos Maidana who is reportedly interested in another crack at the British southpaw.
