Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight prediction: Floyd Jr. by decision – Alvarez

A former Floyd Mayweather Jr. adversary believes that the unbeated American boxer will come out on top, via decision.

Canelo Alvarez, a former world champion himself, has the experience to back up his belief. Alvarez fought Mayweather in September, 2013 and lost via majority decision. And while Alvarez believes that Pacquiao has the power and speed to hurt Floyd, he also sees Mayweather using his smart tactics and will put nothing to risk.

Alvarez believes Mayweather will put his defensive skills to work as always and it will be up to Pacquiao to try and breach it. One thing he believes though is that the fight will not be boring, singling out Pacquiao's aggressiveness and all-out approach which can hopefully do wonders for the fighting Filipino pride from the Philippines.

Alvarez himself is lined up for a match, and it will happen a week after the monumental bout between Mayweather and Pacquiao on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Alvarez will be going up against James Kirkland in a non-title bout on May 9 at the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

Alvarez joins the list of analysts and critics who believe that Mayweather will come out on top although there are some who also think that Pacquiao could come out with a surprise win. Mayweather is a 2-1 favorite and from the looks of it, everything may hinge on the game plan of both boxers.

Pacquiao has been working out privately, though he has been peculiarly having special guests as of late. Mayweather on the other hand has been training like never before since Pacquiao is someone he cannot take lightly.

He did call Pacquiao a reckless fighter, apparently referring to that KO loss to Juan Manuel Marquez. Pacquiao however countered by saying that he is reckless because he fights for the fans.

Hopefully that recklessness becomes key, especially if he wants to pull the rug from the favored Mayweather on May 2.
