Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight: Loss could be devastating to Mayweather – Hagler

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a 2-1 favorite over boxer Manny Pacquiao but that doesn't mean that the Filipino athlete/lawmaker doesn't have a chance of coming out with a win. And Hall of Famer Marvelous Marvin Hagler is now wondering how Mayweather would deal just in case, believing that the undefeated Mayweather wants to keep his streak going and record clean.

Hagler has had many historic fights of his own. He has had classic matches against Thomas 'the Hitman' Hearns, something that happened 30 years ago this week. He believes the fear of losing his unbeaten record is what is keeping Mayweather going though he ponders at the idea of how Mayweather would deal with a possible defeat.

Hagler believes that Mayweather will rely on his handspeed and intelligence to keep Pacquiao at bay but the real question is can he do it for the entire match set on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

There is no question that Mayweather has a whole lot more to lose compared to Pacquiao. And apparently it is Mayweather's intent to at least match the 49-0 record of another boxing great named Rocky Marciano.

Mayweather has made it known that should he reach the goal, retirement could be looming. But then again, would it not be a feat in its own if he were to shatter the record and make it 50-0? The pressure will surely be doubled just in case.

With regards to his match with Pacquiao, there is no rematch clause in case Mayweather wins. But if he loses, well, Mayweather is entitled to one. Lopsided as it sounds, those were the stipulations to make the fight happen.

Mayweather has been training hard like never before for the main reason that Pacquiao is no ordinary fighter. Though he the Filipino fighter may have losses on his end, it still remains that Mayweather is going up against a one and only eight-division world champion. And that is no joke, even for an unbeaten boxer to face off with.
