Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight update: Mayweather clears up rumors
Though many feel that the long awaited clash between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is as good as dead, the fighting lawmaker from the Philippines remains hopeful and positive that the fight does happen.
Apparently Pacquiao is banking that something comes out in the coming weeks after finally meeting Mayweather in person during an NBA game in South Beach. This was the first time that both fighters met and a series of private meetings ensued, lifting hopes that the two could finally get it on by May, 2015 at the earliest.
Mayweather's Instagram post all the more gave Pacquiao hope of the fight happening, something he bared would be a fitting fight to get into before he does eventually retire from boxing.
Another thing going the way of the Pacman is that Mayweather seemed to have finally come to his senses and recognized the Filipino fighter for his accomplishments. Admitting that both of them have had a pretty fruitful and successful career, there is no better way to end it by facing each other in what fans have been long waiting for. But Mayweather did not hide his displeasure of being branded the bad guy in the negotiations, apparently referring to being the one who is stalling the talks. The post can be seen below.
Arum has been hit of being a loose-lipped part of the mix, something which has drawn even the ire of his stepson, HBO president Todd duBeof.
Other than that, the mega fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao is still a toss-up. And until a contract and agreement is placed on the table, such is expected to go on and on as the boxing world continues to agonize and ponder on whether this fight will ever take place at all, now or even the future.
