Floyd Mayweather vs. Ronda Rousey news: Having UFC star on Ring Magazine cover makes boxing look bad, says Mayweather [VIDEO]

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is at it again, only this time he is not directly taking aim at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Women's champion Ronda Rousey.

This has something to do with recent news that Ronda will be donning the covers of Ring Magazine, making her only the second female fighter to grace the cover. It will also be the first time that a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter will be appearing on the cover.

And with that, the retired and undefeated American boxer seems to be upset, not at Rousey but at the Ring Magazine folks. Well, to be precise, Mayweather was pinning the criticism on Oscar De La Hoya, the one behind the iconic magazine.

Mayweather stresses that Rousey's appearance is bad for the sport (boxing) and went as far as saying that De La Hoya had no fighters to feature and that it was in a way trying to steal Rousey from UFC President Dana White. Mayweather's detailed comment can be found at Fighthype.com

Mayweather echoes the sentiment of boxing fans who are reportedly upset over Rousey being on the cover. The first female fighter to appear on the cover is Cat Davis who graced the Ring Magazine cover back in August 1978.

Apparently, the issue here is that Rousey is from a different sport. Although Rousey did express interest in possibly trying out boxing, it appears that fans would rather see it happen first.

Rousey has reacted to the complaints (check video below) and it remains to be seen how and if De La Hoya will react.

Rousey is all set to take on Holly Holm for UFC 193 this weekend as she looks to keep her immaculate record clean. Rousey and Holm will get it on at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia this Saturday.

Ironically, the Ring Magazine edition that features Rousey on the cover will be released the following day, Nov. 15.
