"Fortnite: Battle Royale" is continuing to expand its horizons and with this, more players will be allowed to compete with one another, as the developers have announced a cross-play among all current platforms of the game.

Epic Games has recently revealed that it will soon be implementing a cross-platform play or cross-play, in which players with different gaming devices can play against one another. This will be available for all devices which "Fortnite: Battle Royale" has been released to such as the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (PS4), the PC and Android and iOS devices.

Ultimately, this will ensure that players never lose people to play with now that platform restrictions have been taken off. Though it can be assumed that PC players might have the most advantage since their gaming machines can run the game at better frame rates and resolutions and there is also the fact that they use the standard mice and keyboards that are still vastly superior to analog controllers or smartphone screens for aiming and precision.

One important thing to note is that, despite the all-encompassing cross-play, an Xbox One vs PS4 cross-play is not happening. Apparently, Sony, the owner of all things PS4, is quite reluctant to allow cross-play with Xbox One due to some questionable "security reasons" they claim to be a hindrance for the cross-play between the two console platforms.

Though it appears that Sony is just forcing its aggressive business practices for the PS4 in its decision to prohibit Xbox One and PS4 cross-play since Microsoft, the owner of the Xbox One, actually is in favor of the aspect. The two have been having a feud for more than a decade now in the home console market, but from a technical standpoint, a cross-play is easily doable between the two since controls are nearly identical with less balancing issues.

Still, PS4 players will get to play with PC, iOS, and Android devices, while Xbox One players will also be able to play with the same platforms, minus the PS4 players. The said feature for "Fortnite: Battle Royale" should be available now, though players are advised to stay tuned to the developers for any changes.
