Players of "Fortnite: Battle Royale" will have to get used to walking to their destinations in-game, as the developers have no plans on adding vehicles to the large map of the battle royale game.

Despite hitting a 40-million-player download milestone, Epic Games, the developers, are not keen on providing transportation for its player base. They have, however, clarified that vehicles could still come someday, but they are currently focusing on other things.

"The team is focused right now on delivering the map update to players this week. While we have nothing to announce right now regarding vehicles or additional maps, the team dedicated to delivering all kinds of new content to players on a regular basis, and wouldn't rule anything out," told an Epic representative to Gamespot. This also means that players expecting new maps immediately might get disappointed since they are not the priority for the developers.

Still, the game studio is open to ideas, and given the increasing popularity and player count for "Fortnite: Battle Royale," this might come eventually, perhaps even sooner than expected. Right now, Epic Games is fixated on introducing five new points of interests or locations to the games current battle royale map, along with other changes and tweaks for existing locations.

For now, players will have to make do with the manageable travel times in "Fortnite: Battle Royale," which the developers have defended is still adequate for the map size.

Meanwhile, "Fornite: Battle Royale's" biggest competitor, "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG)" has had vehicles since the early access phase. Although the vehicles in "PUBG" can be quite clunky and difficult to drive, they still get the job done and provide an emergency escape for players, something which the players of "Fortnite: Battle Royale" may have been wanting.

That said, one significant advantage "Fortnite" does have over "PUBG" is that it is free-to-play and is readily available on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 (PS4).
