The battle-royale themed video game by Epic Games, "Fortnite Battle Royale," has released a new patch update. More importantly, the said patch, which is dubbed patch 1.9.1, will simultaneously be released along with the game support for Microsoft's latest console, the Xbox One X. This means that players of the free game will have access to 4K resolution graphics, which is the most optimum graphics for consoles to date.

In a report by GameSpot, the developers over at Epic Games have not yet cleared the air regarding the full scope of which visual optimizations will be implemented for boosting graphic performance. Given that "Fortnight Battle Royale" is a third-person shooter game which heavily relies on reaction time, this could make or break players' in-game performance.

Players will simply have to try the 4K display for themselves in order to determine if they are comfortable with it or not. Just like "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds," the 1.9.1 patch comes with some smoke grenades, which is a new feature in the game. These are weapons that do not do any damage, but are highly effective in creating distractions or causing misdirection against the opposition.

On top of that, the patch also fixes some bugs for the Xbox One, such as the appearance of black artifacts when players sprint, as well as an issue that hindered players from logging back into their Epic accounts if they had hastily logged out — accidentally or otherwise.

Apart from the new smoke grenades, the latest patch also introduces the new Leaderboards system for the game, according to Comic Book. There will now be a Global Leaderboard which tallies the top 50 players for different match types in the game. The barometer used to measure this is by way of how many wins is garnered by players. Additionally, the patch brings back Mutant Storm game mode.

These are just some of the new features that arrive with the 1.9.1 patch, which is looking to bring more dynamics and dimensions to the game. It is scheduled to be released on Nov. 29.
