The developers of "Fortnite" are branching out to other sub-genres of competitive gaming, as they have announced that they are considering more than a dozen new game modes to add to their competitive online shooter.

"Fortnite," which is perhaps most widely known for its "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" ("PUBG")-esque game mode "Fortnite: Battle Royale," might soon get other popular modes as alternatives. Its developer Epic Games is reportedly adding five to the game within the next month and at least another five the month after.

Although one of those five initial game modes is actually a rework of "Fortnite's" original 50v50 mode, with only the four being new as well as the succeeding five. There will also be a revamped battle royale mode in which the drop zone of the 100-player deathmatch will be shrunk to the safe zone circle of the map, making for a hectic and thrilling match compared to the usual roaming gameplay of the battle royal mode.

They will be limited time modes though, meaning they will be temporary but may become permanent based on popular demand and optimization. These will apparently pave way for a lot of crazy game modes such as "the floor is lava" mode, which is what its name implies and is actually being considered by the developers. Epic is confident that they can come up with about a dozen of the said modes that will allow the player to have fresh and unique experience for months to come.

This is all thanks to the recent surge in popularity of "Fortnite: Battle Royale" which now rivals "PUBG" in terms of concurrent player count. It is worth noting that "PUBG" is currently considered the most popular and most played battle royale game at the moment. This might change soon with "Fortnite: Battle Royale's" increasing success, more so with the introduction of its new twists on the genre and other game modes for players to try.
