A new season of Battle Royale is around the corner for Fortnite players as season 5 is about to get going on July 12.

That date was confirmed this week by Epic Games on the Reddit page for the popular game. So players haven't got much time left to play out Season 4 before it comes to an end.

This is what Epic Games had to say on the Fortnite Reddit page: 'Season 4 is coming to an end! We want to give you a heads up on the exact ending time. You may have seen the timer update in-game, which means we are giving you two more days to complete Season 4! Season 5 will begin on July 12th at 4 AM EDT (08:00 GMT).'

Judging by the comments in the Reddit thread, that's certainly got Season 4 players jumping into full-on play mode to get their levels up while they can.

But it isn't entirely over for players who haven't got round to maxing out the opportunities of Season 4 as Epic Games is offering double XP between June 29 and July 2.

Epic Games' statement added: 'Want even more help earning those last few Battle Pass rewards? We'll be running a +100% match XP weekend starting June 29th at 4AM EDT (08:00 GMT) and ending on July 2nd at 3AM EDT (07:00 GMT). Hop in, catch up on challenges, and earn those Season 4 rewards while you can!'

According to GameSpot, a new mode for Fortnite came out with the latest update called the Playground LTM which can only be accessed via invitation and gives players the opportunity to sharpen their skills and strategies without enemy fire coming at them.

Fortnite is a hugely popular game. According to CNET, the game pulled in over $300 million in May, before it even released on Nintendo Switch earlier this month and before the Android version comes out later in the summer.

And according to GameSpot, disc versions of the game are hot property on eBay at the moment, selling to avid collectors for around $100 to $200, some even over $400.
