France will face-off against Nigeria on Monday in the Last 16 of the 2014 World Cup, with the winner set to face the winners of today's later game between Germany and Algeria.

These two teams have only met once before, and in that 2009 encounter Nigeria emerged victorious in a 1-0 result.

France come into this game in good form having been impressive throughout the group stages, however, they will be cautious about today's opposition as they have lost two of their last three World Cup matches against African opposition.

Nigeria though are attempting to make history; if they win today they will make it through to the quarter-finals for the first time in their history. They will have to overcome their recent World Cup bad form though, as in their last 11 World Cup games they have won only once.

This year's World Cup in Brazil has been a successful one for the African continent, and is the first time two teams have made it through to the Second Round. This year Nigeria and Algeria have made it through the group stages, and could even meet one another in the quarter-finals if they both pull off big upsets against their European opposition today.
