France come into this game having won Group G, winning two and losing one. South Korea meanwhile qualified from their group in second place having won one, lost one and drawn one.

Prior to the World Cup starting, many were heralding France as one of the major players in this year's tournament and touting them as potential winners. However, a stunning loss to Colombia has turned some of those voices into doubters and some are questioning now whether the team has the consistency to go all the way.

France tried to answer their doubters in their final group game, demolishing Mexico and claiming top spot in the group on the way.

However, they must make sure they put on a top performance today to defeat South Korea, as this is a team that is enjoying its underdog tag. Most expected Spain to progress from Group E, but Korea defeated them in their last group game, stealing second spot and a game with France in the Round of 16.

This is a Korea team that has also put on a strong performance against Brazil recently and also managed to claim a draw with the United States in a pre-tournament warm up game. So they should prove a stern test to France's credentials today.

Awaiting the winner of today's game will be World Cup favorites Germany in the quarter finals.

One area that France will be hoping to improve upon is converting their shots into goals. So far throughout the group stages, France has outshot their opponents by an amazing 56 shots to 7. Even in their loss to Colombia they outshot the South American team 21-3. However, despite their massive superiority in getting shots off against opponents they have still not looked at their best.

South Korea meanwhile have had one of the fewest shots in the World Cup so far. Only Costa Rica have had fewer shots that Korea to this stage.

Expect France to control most of the possession, but also expect Korea to be much more prepared to sit back and defend and soak up the pressure than Mexico did. Korea will want to hit France on the counter-attack and frustrate them going forward - a similar tactic that was so successful against Spain.

If France show up at their strongest it's hard to see this going against them, but if they are lacking anything today then Korea could just stand a chance at causing a massive upset.
