Franklin Graham tells Oprah Winfrey: Only one way towards God — Jesus
When media mogul Oprah Winfrey promoted her new television series called "Belief," the celebrated talk show host said there are many ways people can connect to God. However, Reverend Franklin Graham begs to differ.
"Oprah Winfrey's new series 'Belief'...looks at a number of religions and might make one think there are many paths to God, as Oprah has said in the past," Graham writes on his Facebook page. "But there are not many paths to God or to eternal life with Him."
Graham strongly believes that there is only one way people can reach God—and that is through His son Jesus Christ. "A personal relationship with Almighty God through His Son Jesus Christ is the only thing that can fill the void in the human heart. This is not a matter of opinion—Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to Father except through Me.' One way, one Saviour, no exceptions," he stresses.
This is not the first time that Winfrey's statements about Christianity and her faith have merited some disapproval. Earlier, Winfrey caused an uproar when she made a Facebook video post saying that as a young girl of seven years old, she believed that Jesus Christ was her Brother.
"For the earliest part of my life, I didn't know my father," the OWN Network CEO said. "Not growing up with a father, I heard in church that God was my Father and that God was the Father of us all and that Jesus was God's son. So in my imagination, my way of thinking about God was 'God is my Father and Jesus is His Son, so I am His child, which makes me His daughter, which makes Jesus my brother.'"
Many commented on her video post, reminding her that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are but One. "Well Oprah, why do I have to break it down to you that Jesus is not your brother? He is God, therefore He is also your Father," someone commented, to which Winfrey replied, "I was 3-7 years old when I thought that way. Give me a small break will ya."
