Reverend Franklin Graham has gone on a trip down memory lane as he honours his parents Billy and Ruth Graham on the occasion of their 72^nd wedding anniversary, thanking them for best exemplifying what it means to have a marriage that is centred on Jesus Christ.

On his Facebook page, Graham shared a throwback photo of his parents' wedding day and wrote, "72 years ago tomorrow, August 13th, my parents were married at Gaither Chapel in Montreat, North Carolina. My father has said that he could not have imagined loving my mother any more than he did that day—but as time went on, he realised that he loved her even more with every passing day. That's still true."

His mother passed away eight years ago, but Graham's father still tells his son just how much he misses her and looks forward to being reunited with her in heaven. "I'm thankful for their great example of a loving Christ-centred marriage," the evangelist said.

Graham misses his mother constantly, too. Ruth passed away in 2007 due to pneumonia, and her death broke the heart of the entire Graham family. But Graham still keeps his mother's memory alive by sharing with others the same lessons she taught him as a child.

"My mother always insisted that I memorise Scripture — and I'm glad she did," he shared. "She said that if we didn't have the Word of God with us, we could always have it in our hearts."

One of the first passages he memorised was Psalm 1. It's a very long passage, but Franklin has no problem reciting and sharing it with others. It says: "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night..."
