According to an exclusive interview with Shock Till You Drop, Platinum Dunes co-founder Brad Fuller revealed that the upcoming "Friday the 13th" reboot/ remake will no longer be a found footage film and instead will be shot like any traditional horror flick. 

Platinum Dunes was also founded by director Michael Bay and Andrew Form. The company is known for remaking horror films such as the 2003 "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake and the 2009 "Friday the 13th" remake, both of which did not gain high critical acclaim but garnered enough box office sales to warrant future projects. 

"I think you guys reported that the movie was going to be a found footage movie and that was a road that we went down and tried to figure out," Fuller told Shock Till You Drop. "Ultimately, I think Michael, Drew and I felt that we couldn't figure that out, so we kind of jettisoned that whole notion and we had to start over." 

He continued to explain that the company wanted to focus on what made Jason Voorhees so iconic and memorable to the audiences and that the found footage style of filming did not adhere to these goals. Fuller explained that the fans love seeing Jason do "what he does" and that they are trying to achieve this without repeating what has been seen before. 

Fuller also acknowledged that the remake/ reboot has taken a lot of time to hit production and he noted that this delay might have been a good thing. A few years back, the found footage style was popular but now it has been overused by many studios to the point where fans don't want it anymore. 

The producer also mentioned that fan reactions were a part of the reason why Platinum Dunes dropped the found footage style. According to Fuller, they got a lot of negative feedback from the fans and this weighed in heavily in every decision moving forward. Eventually they scrapped the idea. 

According to the report, Platinum Dunes is waiting for a script that may reach them within a month or two. Once this script is green lit, it will only be a matter of time before they bring fans back to Crystal Lake.

"Friday the 13th" is expected to hit theaters on May 13, 2016.
