"Frostpunk" is arriving on the PC platform this April 24 Steam Community/Frostpunk

It seems like 11 Bit Studios is planning to turn this summer into a winter wonderland courtesy of their eternal snow world builder "Frostpunk," which is set for a release on April 24.

The Poland-based developer, who brought "This War of Mine" and "Beat Cop" into the gaming scene, confirmed "Frostpunk's" debut on the PC platform on March 9. At the same time, it surprised a lot of fans by simultaneously dropping a trailer which takes players through the game's mechanics and narrative.

"Frostpunk" is a city-builder title that is set in a post-apocalyptic world where human civilization has almost perished due to the onset of the eternal winter. Here, players are then tasked with saving the last standing city of humanity by managing the citizens and infrastructures. Not only that, users also have to establish laws and rules in order to maintain order in the community.

What makes this game very interesting is that it touches not only on the inherent force of human survival but also human ingenuity in critical times. Players must make increasingly difficult decisions that will secure the future of their city as the game progresses.

Initially, the game was set to debut sometime in the first quarter of 2018. However, developers found it fairly difficult to release "Frostpunk" within that time frame and decided to reschedule the game in the second quarter of the year.

Grzegorz Miechowski, Managing Director of 11 Bit Studios, explained that they were not able to deliver the game on the promised time since it needed much more tweakings and polishing. He said that they wanted to give players a game which will best represent the studio.

"We wanted to make it before end of Q1, but we ended up slightly moving the release further. The reason is simple – we needed this time for the final polishing required to deliver a game that, we believe, is the best 11 bit title so far," Miechowski shared.

"Frostpunk" will be available on the PC platform once it drops. It will have two versions — a digital edition and a retail edition. The former will cost $29.99 while the latter, similarly called the Victorian edition, will be priced at $34.99 and will include an artbook.
