Amid rumors that Disney's "Frozen" sequel will finally reveal Elsa to be a lesbian, actress Idina Menzel — who does the voice for one of Disney's most popular characters — expressed that she supports the idea.

In a guesting for "The Ellen Degeneres" show, Menzel said that she thought it would be a good idea for Disney to introduce a character as gay.

"I think it's a wonderful idea. It's a wonderful conversation that we should all have about whether a Disney princess or queen could be gay," she said.

In a separate interview, Menzel reiterated her position and said that she is happy that these rumors and speculations are causing people to talk about the issue openly.

"I can't promise anybody that that's what's gonna happen... But deep down am I really happy that it's causing people to talk about it and have these kinds of conversations? Yeah, I am," the actress said.

While rumors have been rife about the release of the sequel to the surprise hit of 2013, there has been no official announcement about its plot or its possible release. In an IGN report, actress Kristen Bell — who did the voice for Princess Anna — said that Disney is not rushing its development because the interest will be the same for film whether it is released soon or in the next five years.

"They have the luxury to not rush because everyone is going to be excited whether it comes out tomorrow or in five years. They're making it as perfect as they need it to be and we're on call to start recording whenever," Bell told IGN.

Since the film's release, Disney has released an animated short — titled "Frozen Fever" — in 2015, which was featured during the screenings of Disney's live action "Cinderella" film featuring Lily James and Richard Madden in the lead roles.
