"Frozen 2" might feature a female lover for Elsa.

Since its release in 2013, "Frozen" has inspired many viewers of all ages. Some perceive it to have pro-LGBTQ themes because of the lyrics in the Oscar-winning song "Let it Go." People have even called it a great "coming-out anthem," which led fans to wonder if Disney will continue the progressive movement in "Frozen 2."

Co-director Jennifer Lee recently caught up with The Huffington Post and she discussed the "Frozen 2" storyline suggestions from fans. According to her, Disney is having "tons of conversations" about the people who want to see the blockbuster's lead character, Elsa, find a female love interest.

"I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film ― that it's creating dialogue, that Elsa is this wonderful character that speaks to so many people," Lee explained. "It means the world to us that we're part of these conversations."

For now, Lee said she does not want to come up with a decision that does not feel right for the character and her story arc. Since she often writes "from character-out," she still does not know where the story will lead Elsa in the end.

Idina Menzel, who served as the voice actress for the fan-favorite Snow Queen, has already showed her support for the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend hashtag when it started trending on Twitter in 2016. Disney has yet to confirm, however, if the creators of "Frozen 2" will follow the fans' suggestions and push through with a female lover for Elsa.

Over the years, Disney has made some progress on giving representation to the LGBTQ community in films. Josh Gad's Lefou from "Beauty and the Beast" was supposed to be an openly gay man, but it was not made too obvious in the movie and was only subtly hinted at. Additionally, "Thor: Ragnarok" character Valkyrie — portrayed by Tessa Thompson — was a bisexual.

"Frozen 2" is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 27, 2019 in the United States.
