Frozen 2 release date, plot rumors: New villain and love story for Elsa?

Queen Anna and Princess ElsaDisney

Since the release of the animated film Frozen almost two years ago, there's no denying that children are not over the Frozen hype even up until this day. It will also surely intensify once Frozen 2 inevitably hits the screen. At the moment no firm release date has been announced but it is believed a premiere will take place in 2018.

But what is in store for these little fanatics and will the success of Frozen continue on for the sequel?

Not much is known about Frozen 2 except that it is confirmed. It was also known that the animated film directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee already have an ending in place, but they still don't know how to start the story.

Various plot details have been spread about over recent months, although it's hard to tell which hold any truth if any at all.

First off, there was speculation that Frozen 2 will feature more on the love story between Kristoff and Anna — and a possible wedding.

There were also rumors that the Ice Queen of Arendelle will finally meet her match in love. It has been speculated in a number of outlets that Olaf could be a potential love interest for Elsa — and yes it might have something to do with the snowman transforming into a dashing human perfect for the queen.

A new villain is also reportedly said to appear in the sequel, according to Movie News Guide. This villain will be equally powerful as Elsa but will challenge the ice queen with fire power.

All these rumors will surely get Frozen fans excited, but they remain just speculation at this stage, and there's still not formal word out about the sequel yet.

Meanwhile, it's clear that voice actors for Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff will be back for Frozen 2. Other than that, fans will just have to wait for official character and plot details.

Buck and Lee will still be directing the film, with Lee also on the screenplay. Both of them will surely be under pressure because Frozen was labeled as highest grossing animated feature of all time due to its great success in cinemas and DVD release.
