Popular fruit slasher game "Fruit Ninja" now has its own animated series, which was digitally released on YouTube.

Titled "Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force," the animated series premiered on May 5 on YouTube Red. It is produced by Halfbrick Studios, which also made the game.

The story follows Seb, Niya, Peng, and Ralph, young ninjas who discover a mysterious dojo, where they uncover the secrets of a long-lost martial art called Juice-Jitsu. According to an early review of the series by Collider, the show harks back to the cartoon shows from yesteryear, as each character has his/her own unique abilities. Seb channels the powers of the dragon fruit; Niya, pineapple; Peng, berry; and Ralph, coconut. When they are not fighting the forces of evil, led by the villainous Durian Grey, the four maintain a juice stand as their front.

Tubefilter and Collider note the fruit puns and action-packed and colorful scenes of "Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force" as appealing to children, which are the target audience of the show. Those who played the game "Fruit Ninja" will also be pleasantly surprised to see that the fruit facts that appeared in the game are carried over on the animated series, with Sensei giving the trivia at the end of the episode.

"Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force" will have 13 episodes. Currently, only those who live in New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Korea, and the United States will be able to watch these episodes, as these are the only regions who can subscribe to YouTube Red.

"Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force" is the first animated series produced by Halfbrick Studios. It is unclear if the film project, which was announced in 2016 via The Hollywood Reporter, will push through. Previously associated with the film is Tripp Vinson of Vinson Films. J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, who wrote the script for "How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack," are said to pen the story for this movie.

"Fruit Ninja" has been downloaded 4.7 million times on Google Play store.
