Galaxy S6 Active release date coming soon?

An accidental leak may have prematurely unveiled that Samsung is working on an Active version of the Galaxy S6.

In a Twitter post by tech industry observer GSM Arena, which was corroborated by trusted leaker Evan Blass, a leaked image was shown purported to be the new Galaxy S6 Active.

When the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were unveiled at this year's Mobile World Congress, almost everyone agreed that the devices in the series are two of the best-designed phones in the Samsung line-up. With next-gen specs and a premium look and feel, both the S6 and S6 Edge are now topping the list of the company's flagship products.

However, most Galaxy fans noted that the S6 has one fatal flaw, at least for them. It seems that the S6 is geared toward high-end customers and was developed with a classy design in mind. Also, those who are enjoying active lifestyles are comparing the S6 with its predecessor, and find it wanting.

When the Galaxy S5 was launched by Samsung, the company touted the device as fit for users with an active lifestyle. The phone's IP67 certification made the S5 dust and water resistant. The phone could also be used underwater for up to 1 meter, and can be submerged for up to 30 minutes.

In the leaked images, the drastic change in the look, and thereby the feel, can be instantly seen. Much like the S5 Active released last year, the reported Galaxy S6 Active seems to be made of the same sturdy, industrial-grade plastic that would make the phone withstand the elements. Due to the rugged design of the phone, it is also expected that the S6 Active, much like its predecessor, will also not feature a fingerprint sensor.
