After its release last April 10, Samsung's Galaxy S6 still ranks as the No. 1 Android smartphone in terms of sales, according to a recent article published by Forbes. Almost 2 months after its release, the S6 is yet to be challenged by another android-based phone. LG released its leather-encased G4 to go head to head against the S6 and another of Samsung's smartphones, the Galaxy Note 4.

LG G4 is powered by a 64-bit Hexa-Core Qualcomm 808 Snapdragon processor, clocked at 1.8Ghz while the S6 runs on an Exynos 7 Octa-Core 7420, each core clocked at 2.1GHz. The Galaxy Note 4 on the other hand, can be equipped with either a 2.7GHz Quad-Core or an Octa-Core processor with half the cores clocked at 1.9Ghz and the other half at 1.3GHz. The S6 beats the other two in terms of clock speed, but it is important to note that with clock speeds of over 1.5GHz, little to no difference in terms of "snappiness" in touch-based responses can be observed. Both the G4 and S6 come native with the Android 5.0 Lollipop while Note 4 is preinstalled with Android 4.4 with an option of upgrading to the 5.0 version.

All three phones carry 3GB of RAM, which allows for a lot of multitasking without a drop in performance. Each of the three phones also offers a maximum display resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 557, 538 and 515 dpi for the S6, G4 and Note 4 respectively. While both of Samsung smartphones, the S6 and Note 4, come with a Super AMOLED with S6 having the Quad HD, LG G4 uses an IPS Quantum display. Note 4 offers the largest display among the three at 5.7 inches. It is followed closely by the G4, which offers a 5.5-inch display and S6 comes in last with 5.1 inches.

Samsung's S6, among the three phones, offers the largest built-in storage capacity at 128GB. Both the Note 4 and G4 offer only up to 32GB. However, the two latter phones, G4 and Note 4, have MicroSD slots that can support up to 200GB and 2TB for each respective phone, which is a cheaper alternative to upgrading the built-in storage capacity. The S6 does not have a MicroSD slot. Both LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 also offer swappable batteries, a feature that the S6 does not have or offer. Although it can charge faster, the S6 has the smallest battery capacity out of the three while Note 4 has the highest and the G4 follows closely behind it.

The cameras for S6 and G4 are both 16MP and produce almost the same quality images with little disparity, which is mostly due to lighting factors anyway. The Note 4 also has a 16MP camera, but being of the previous generation, the taken images were topped by the S6's and the G4's. The Note 4 and G4 also come with a Stylus pen, another option that is not available for the S6. Prices for the phones start at $600.
