One of the new rumors that are floating around about the upcoming flagship of Samsung is that instead of the usual form factor for its base model, the new iteration will be released as an Edge from the get-go.

According to industry follower Stuff.tv, a Vietnamese Samsung fansite surmised that Samsung will drastically change its marketing strategies for its upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship. It was mentioned that when the Galaxy S7 launches next year, it will immediately come with an Edge display as a base model. In addition, there will be two variants of the Galaxy S7, a 5.2-inch version and a larger one having a 5.7-inch Edge display.

If this rumor is proven true, this will be indeed be a drastic change from what South Korea-based Samsung did with the previous Edge iterations. When Samsung launched the Galaxy S6, the first release was a base model with a regular display, and the Edge variants for the S6 Edge and Edge Plus were only added in the lineup.

Dovetailing with other speculations, this means that the Galaxy S7 will apparently be launched as the Galaxy S7 Edge and Edge Plus.

There was another rumor that can be connected with the current speculations. Allegedly, the next Samsung flagship will come in three versions. However, instead of differences in dimensions and features, the Galaxy S7 will have two versions with premium-specs Exynos processors, and a third one with a Snapdragon chipset. If this rumor is also proven true, there might also be three versions of the S7 in terms of display – a base model, a Galaxy S7 Edge, and a larger S7 Edge Plus. This might be the likely scenario – much like what Samsung did with the previous S6 iterations.

The Galaxy S7 is expected to be released next year, and some observers have said that Samsung will most likely roll out the flagship in the early months of 2016.
