Rumors currently suggest that a wide array of new features will be coming to the Galaxy S7, and now, the question is whether or not they will make for a better phone.

First off, it's been rumored that the Galaxy S7 will be bringing back microSD support when it is eventually launched. The return of the microSD slot should ultimately be a huge benefit to users, though it remains to be seen just how Samsung plans to integrate it into the overall design of the Galaxy S7.

The Galaxy S7 will also reportedly feature new batteries and cameras, according to Venture Beat.

The batteries will reportedly be bumped up to 3,000 mAh for the Galaxy S7 and 3,600 mAh for the Galaxy S7 Edge. That would represent a significant capacity increase from the 2,550 mAh and 2,600 mAh batteries that were present in last year's offerings.

The rear cameras of the Galaxy S7 will also reportedly provide 12 megapixels, which would actually be down from the 16 megapixel offerings available via the S6 models. In exchange for those lost megapixels, the S7's cameras will reportedly be more capable of providing quality images even in low-light situations.

Forbes also points out that the new batteries and cameras may have an adverse effect on the phone's thickness, meaning it may have to be thicker to accommodate the adjusted specs.

It's also not all good news for the batteries of the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge. It may end up taking as much as two hours to fully replenish the batteries of the S7 via wireless charging, while the S7 Edge's batteries may need up to 2.2 hours.

Whether or not the new features add up to a better phone will be for the consumers to decide.

Samsung is currently expected to launch the Galaxy S7 some time in February of this year.
