As the "Gambit" movie is finally moving forward bit by bit, updates are leaking out onto the internet, letting fans know about the film's progress. One such update comes in the form of an audition tape for the movie's leading lady.

As revealed by Omega Underground, an audition tape was recently revealed for "Chess," which is the working title for the "Gambit" movie. The tape in particular is of actress Ali Rodney, who is auditioning for the character Bella Donna Boudreaux. There are two different scenes that are shown on the tape, both of which involve Bella Donna talking to Remy LeBeau a.k.a. Gambit, played by Channing Tatum.

The first scene shows Gambit asking Bella Donna for some information, resulting into some mind games. The second scene shows the two characters thinking about their relationship.

The audition tape, dated back last year, puts them at an interesting point in the mutant's timeline. Rupert Wyatt was initially signed on to direct the film until he exited, with Doug Liman taking his place in 2015. During the time, Lea Seydoux was rumored to be playing Bella Donna, but she denied those reports after months of speculation. Liman eventually left the film in 2016.

Since the movie is starting from square one, it is highly likely that this dialogue will not be the same in the official movie.

Bella Donna and Gambit are known to be childhood friends in the comics despite coming from rivaling guilds, Assassins and Thieves. When the two of them got older, they were arranged to be married in an attempt to unite the two Guilds. Unfortunately, things went south when Bella's brother decided to challenge Gambit in a duel to the death. When Remy won, he was kicked out of New Orleans and left without Bella.

Could this be featured in the film? Possibly. According to another report from Omega Underground, a status shared by the site's editor Christopher M on Twitter, it seems that the "Gambit" movie will be more of a crime or heist movie. That may not come as a surprise, given the mutant's beginnings as a thief.

The "Gambit" movie is expected to premiere on Feb. 14, 2019.
