The "Game of Thrones" series might be concluding with season 8, but it does not mean fans will have to say good-bye to Westeros anytime soon.

Reports reveal that HBO signed up four different writers to work on several possible spin-offs of the TV adaptation of George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book saga.

The writers include "Kong: Skull Island" writer Max Borenstein, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" screenplay writer Jane Goldman, "Legend" writer and director Brian Helgeland, and "Mad Men" screenwriter Carly Wray.

Reports claim that both Goldman and Wray will work individually with Martin in the development of the spin-offs.

According to the network's spokesperson, HBO will not rush the development of the upcoming spin-offs. "We'll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in," the spokesperson stated.

HBO programing president Casey Bloys first addressed the possibility of having a possible "Game of Thrones" spin-off during the Television Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour in 2016. According to Bloys, they already talked about it during that time.

"It's something I'm not opposed to. But, of course, it has to make sense creatively. I am not sure that the guys [Weiss and Benioff] can really wrap their heads around it when they're just about to start production," Bloys stated during the event. "It's a pretty intense production. They're about to start production soon, but I'm open to it. The guys weren't opposed to it, but there is no concrete plans, or anything like that at this point."

On the other hand, other reports reveal that "Game of Thrones" executive producers Dan Weiss and David Benioff will still work behind the scenes of the possible spin-offs, but they are not expected to be as active as they are in the original series.

"We will support them as they take a much deserved break from writing about Westeros once the final season is complete," the network said.
