'Game of Thrones' season 4 episode 9 spoilers: Watchers on the Wall

The Watchers on the Wall is the second to the last episode of "Game of Thrones" Season 4. While the previous episode may leave your head still reeling from the epic ending, it's time to move on as GOT Season 4 Episode 9 is just as exciting, if not more.

The episode title is the oath sworn by Night's Watch recruits. "I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men." This title itself hints that the Wall will need to be defended. In the book, this is about the Battle of Castle Black, a battle between the wildlings and the Night's watch.

In the previous episode, the wildlings raided Mole Town and killed everyone. Mance formed an advance team to attack the Night Watch. But Jon Snow formed his own defense group and got the better of Mance's team. Mance realized that he won't win this way and he must attack the Wall instead.

In the Battle of Castle Black, Snow and Ygritte meet again for the last time. Ygritte was killed by an archer, presumably the kid whose parents Ygritte killed. Snow sees Ygritte and approached her, where they had their last moment with Ygritte telling Snow "You know nothing Jon Snow." Ygritte dies.

Things on the Wall are pretty bad as well. The Night's Watch seemed to be at a disadvantage as Mance's team was just too many. He even had giants to fight for him. The Wall is about to be breached, when suddenly... Stannis Baratheon saves the Wall.

Stannis showed up with an army ready to devour those wildlings and they did. Mance and the wildlings lost the battle. Mance was captured. Stannis stays at the Wall.

All these spoilers were based on the book. However, HBO might take the episode in a different direction.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Episode 9 will air June 8 on HBO.
