"Game of Thrones" is becoming one of the biggest series in television history. There are no signs of the show slowing down despite the fact that it is catching up and expected to overtake the available plot in the books it is based on. Testament to this is the launch of season 5 on April 12. 

The first trailer hints that Sansa Stark may be returning to Winterfell. She might be dealing with Ramsay Bolton. This never happens in the books but she might be taking on the role that is supposed to go to a character named Jeyne Poole. 

Promotional photos also show a bearded Tyrion Lannister sitting in council with Daenerys Targaryen, another instance which does not occur in the source material. In the books, Tyrion does not Daenerys and instead accompanies her supposed nephew Aegon as they invade Westeros. 

New characters will also be introduced. Entertainment Weekly featured the three Sand Snakes — the three daughters of Prince Oberyn Martel who was killed by The Mountain in season 4. Then there is the High Sparrow, a religious leader who is set to cause trouble for the Lannisters and the Tyrells alike. 

Death is also going to be a big thing in season 5. Author George R. R. Martin attended the Writers Guild West Awards and had a few statements to say regarding the series. 

According to Showbiz411, Martin said, "People are going to die who don't die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy. So everybody better be on their toes. The show's co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are even bloodier than I am." 

Season 5 will have multiple weddings, multiple surprise deaths, characters aren't where they were in the books, and the plot has overtaken the source material until George R. R. Martin publishes the final entries in the series.
