"Game of Thrones" season 5 is highly anticipated, especially following the shocking events that happened in the season 4 finale. Fans of the HBO TV series are wondering what will happen to the characters after that explosive ending.

True enough, George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" book series is a good source to know what will happen next in "Game of Thrones." However, that's not always the case because the TV adaptation has deviated from the story in the books several times already. This season, the same can be expected.

There's news that Jamie Lannister's storyline will be different from the book. Jamie's story should pick up after the events that happened last season, with him helping his brother Tyrion escape, leaving two dead bodies in his wake — including their father, Tywin Lannister. So, what is to happen to Jamie now?

In "Song of Ice and Fire," as Cinema Blend summarizes it, Jamie is supposed to comfort Tommen due to the death of his grandfather. Quickly after, he will be sent on a mission by Cersei to take care of Brendan the Blackfish and Edmure Tully.

But according to Entertainment Weekly, Jamie will instead go to Dorne for a mission. He will visit the Martell household and come face-to-face with the family of the late Oberyn Martell, who died in the most gruesome way possible last season. 

In Dorne, he will meet Doran as well as Oberyn's bastard daughters, Obara, Nymeria and Tyene. It's possible that Jamie will also see Princess Myrcella there.

"Game of Thrones" showunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff reckons that Jamie's character will be more interesting if he interacts with the Martells and the deadly Sand Snakes, as opposed to dealing with who Cersei wants.

Well, Jamie's character really needs a good story arc following what he did with Tyrion, and this might just be it.
