"Game of Thrones" star Ben Crompton who has played Night's Watch Lord Commander Dolorous Edd in the show is returning for season 8. The actor confirmed the news in an interview while promoting the Movemeber campaign, which aims to encourage men to look after their health.

The last time fans saw Edd, he was at Castle Black, the primary headquarters of the Night's Watch, admitting Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Meera (Ellie Kendrick) through the Wall. Although the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) and his army brought the Wall down, Crompton notes that only a portion of it was destroyed. Castle Black is still untouched, at least for the moment.

"Eastwatch has been penetrated, that's the one by the sea, so Eastwatch is broken," he told Chronicle Live. "Edd is manning Castle Black."

This means the Night's Watch will still somehow have a role to play in "Game of Thrones" season 8. It remains to be seen what happens to them after the carnage in season 7 finale. Bustle notes they will either be the first men to fight the White Walkers or they will head south on Winterfell to inform Jon (Kit Harrington) and the rest of the North about the incoming threat.

Crompton also confirmed his attendance in the "Game of Thrones" season 8 table reading which made Harrington emotional. He did not say whether or not he also teared up during the read-through, but he did tease what is coming and it sounds very exciting.

"I can just tell you it's brilliant," he said. "Honestly, there's a couple of things there that are like nothing else that's been seen on telly."

The eighth season of the show has just kicked off production last month with a gigantic mystery set in Belfast, Northern Ireland. So far, photos revealed trebuchets and what appears to be a large section of a castle wall. Wiki of Thrones, which published the latest photos, claim filming has been going on last week. There is not much known, however, on what has been happening on the inside as people are prohibited from going near the set.

"Game of Thrones" season 8 is expected to premiere with 6 episodes sometime on 2019.
