Gears of War 4 - limited promo giving all previous games for freeMicrosoft Studios

As reported by Gamespot, Microsoft is offering a special deal for gamers who purchase "Gears of War 4" before the end of the year. Those who buy the game, either physically or digitally, before Dec. 31 will also get to download all four previous games for free.

"Gears of War" initially launched back in 2006 and was followed by "Gears of War 2" and "Gears of War 3" in 2008 and 2011. A prequel/spin-off titled "Gears of War:Judgment" was launched in 2013. While all four are Xbox 360 games, they will run on an Xbox One as they are all included in the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list.

The report also points out that this is not the first time the games were offered. Last year all four games were also given to those who would purchase "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition," a remake of the first title in the franchise, prior to the end of 2015.

According to the report, players will need at least 32GB of free space to download all four games. It is also noted that the tokens to download each game will come in waves instead of automatically being available. These tokens will be sent through Xbox Live messages and will bear a one-month redemption period. This ends on Dec. 31.

"Gears of War 4" takes place 25 years after the events of "Gears of War 3" and now shifts its focus to JD Fenix (Liam McIntyre), the son of the previous games' protagonist Marcus (John DiMaggio). It will focus on a new threat and a world changed by the events of the previous games.

"Gears of War 4" will launch fo the Xbox One and PC this Oct. 11. The game is going to be a part of the Xbox Play Anywhere system, which means players who buy it on the Xbox One will get a free copy on PC and vice versa. Saved files will also transfer between platforms, allowing players to continue no matter which platform they play on.
