Back then, the original "Gears of War" title was one of the titles that took advantage of the features of the newly-launched Xbox 360, and gamers. Now, Black Tusk Studios and Microsoft hope to recapture the first title's glory days through a remastered edition for the Xbox One.

The new title started as a rumor early this year, as Microsoft was reported to be developing a bundled anthology for the current-gen console, to be named the "Marcus Fenix Collection". However, Black Tusk Studios head Rod Fergusson debunked the rumors and instead tweeted, "I love the passion, but there's no Marcus Fenix Collection. We are working on other exciting Gears projects. I'll see you at E3!"

The statement from Fergusson confirmed industry observers saying that there indeed will be a new "Gears of War" title in the works.

According to game observer site Polygon, the re-launching of the original title to the Xbox One would come with upgraded visuals, reworked and improved graphics, and cinematic cutscenes done by industry expert Plastic Wax.

Part of the improved elements of the original title would be to upgrade the graphics for 60 fps. If this is indeed true, the remastered edition of "Gears of War" will join other titles in achieving eye-popping cinematics and smooth playing experience. Other titles that play on a 60-fps frame rate include the newer games from the "Call of Duty" franchise, and the upcoming fifth instalment for "Halo".

Microsoft picked up the rights to "Gears of War" from Epic Games last year, and has been developing a series of games based on the "Gears of War" franchise. No other details are available as of yet, but industry sources say that these titles are independent of the remastered edition.

The first "Gears of War" was released back in 2006 for the Xbox 360 and PC. The game went on and produced three more titles, with the most recent one, "Gears of War: Judgment" released in 2013.
