Conor McGregor is still without an opponent after announcing that he wants to get back in the cage as soon as possible, and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight and former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre is more than willing to volunteer.

With first choice Tony Ferguson out due to injury, St. Pierre's camp has been very vocal about wanting to challenge the Irishman.

TriStar gym head coach Firas Zahabi has been trying to get the McGregor fight to happen since GSP returned to action last month and defeated Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight belt.

"I don't think that's crazy. I've been asking for that fight for over a year and a half now," Zahabi said, according to Express Sport, adding, "I don't think it's a crazy fight. I think it's a brilliant fight."

According to Zahabi, it is unlikely to be the biggest match in the sport's history, adding, "And that record wouldn't be broken for ten years. So why not do it?"

Zahabi, known for his philosophical approach in mixed martial arts, is all praises for McGregor's physical ability and fighter's mentality.

"He's got the touch of death in his hands. He knows what he's doing, he's highly intelligent, highly captivated, he's extremely dangerous," Zahabi said of the UFC lightweight champion. "And I don't think he fears anybody," he added.

UFC president Dana White, however, has a different tone regarding the potential superfight between two of the UFC's biggest names.

White told ESPN that he is not interested in a St. Pierre vs. McGregor fight, and continued to shoot down rumors of negotiations between both fighters' camps.

"He ain't fighting Conor McGregor," said White. "If he wants to come back, (UFC welterweight champion) Tyron Woodley or (middleweight champion) Robert Whittaker is waiting for him. They're both waiting, if Georges wants to come back," he added.
