Germany will be favorites for today's game, having breezed through their group stages, winning two and drawing one of their three games to claim top spot in Group B. Through the three games they scored an amazing 15 goals and conceded just one, although of course a majority of those goals scored came from their demolition of the Ivory Coast.

Sweden meanwhile started this World Cup with a great degree of optimism that they could go far and potentially cause some upsets and even be dark horses for the title. However, in the end they struggled badly in Group D and are lucky to have gotten through to the Round of 16.

They have yet to win a game in the tournament so far and have struggled to find any rhythm in their play to date, finishing in Group D in third place, relying on going through to the knock out stages as one of the better third place finishers.

However, even though they have yet to win a game, they have also yet to lose a game, and thus far they have been extremely difficult to beat. Coming out of the so-called Group of Death without a loss is at least some kind of achievement and should mean even though Germany are big favorites here, we can expect that Sweden will not just lay down and die and will be tough to break down and defeat.

Prior to the World Cup starting, many had expected Sweden to win their group, which would have potentially set up this match as a semi final, however, they have hit a brick wall somewhat with their form of late, and they simply must find their feet today and take the game at Germany.

If both teams play to their potential, then today's game should be a massive treat for World Cup fans, and at their best these are definitely two of the most talented teams at this tournament. However, which Sweden team turns up today remains to be seen.
