The news about "Gilmore Girls" getting a revival as a Netflix series was first announced late last year.

TVLine first reported that the production has just began with the casting, but Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, and Kelly Bishop are reportedly coming back as major characters. Since the announcement of the news, details have been kept under wraps and show executives have been mum about the matter — until recently.

The popular streaming service's Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, provided an update of the most anticipated series revival. Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour on Jan. 17, Sarandos said he can't share details about "Gilmore Girls" and explained that they need to finalize everything before releasing an official announcement.

A hit series back in 2000, the "Gilmore Girls" revival will entirely be written and directed by Team Palladino, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. TV Line also revealed that the whole series will have four chapters corresponding the four seasons. Fans should also expect that the story will be set in the modern time, about eight years after the last episode of the series aired back in 2007.

Casting negotiations for the aforementioned actors are still ongoing, but it seems that another original character/actor is set to return to the series.

Keiko Agena, who played Lane Kim in "Gilmore Girls," is speculated to be part of the cast after she posted a photo of herself with Helen Pai, who co-worked with Amy on the series. Lane is said to be modeled after Pai, who happens to be a childhood friend of Amy.

In her Instagram post, Agena posed with Pai and wrote, "With the REAL LIFE Lane Kim, Helen Pai. :) Good things are coming." It was easily picked up as a sign that Agena will be back to reprise her role. However, there is still no confirmation on this matter.
