Entertainment Weekly has released several official photos of the upcoming revival season of "Gilmore Girls," which will premiere on Netflix later this year. While the photos do not reveal much, they do confirm that several key plot points from the original series have still carried on to the new series, which takes place nearly a decade after the original's 2007 series finale.

As stated in a report from Screen Rant, the only original cast member not returning is Edward Hermann, who played Richard Gilmore, due to the actor's passing in 2014. All of the three key female characters will be returning and it was recently confirmed that Melissa McCarthy will be reprising her role as Sookie.

One of the images confirm that even nine years later, Lorelei (Lauren Graham) and Luke (Scott Patterson) are still dating and the image shows them smiling and holding hands. Rory (Alexis Bledel) is back in college but now as a professor.

Unfortunately, none of the images showcase any of her past love interests despite the fact that Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), Dean (Jared Padelecki) and Logan (Matt Czuchry) all confirmed to appear in the revival series. It is speculated that the three will only have fleeting cameos unless one of them will serve as Rory's love interest for the majority of the series.

The images also confirm that the usual antics of the series' small town setting will return. One of the images show Lorelei and Rory at a table where the auditions for the "Stars Hollow: The Musical" event are being filled in.

It is important to note that the Netflix revival series will not follow the original series format. Instead of a single season featuring 22 episodes, the new Netflix revival will only have four mini-movies that are 90-minutes long. Each mini-movie will be set in a different season of the year, with the first episode likely to be set in the Fall.
