The upcoming "Gilmore Girls" revival on Netflix has reportedly just snagged actor Dan Bucatinsky, who is said to be playing a mystery role in the new mini-series. According to a report from TVLine, the studios have not yet revealed who Bucatinsky is playing or what kind of role he will have on the show.

The actor first revealed his involvement when he posted several photos via Instagram. The first photo he posted revealed one of the seats used in production with the title of the show sprawled on the fabric. His second photo was an image of Bucatinsky with "Gilmore Girls" lead Alexis Bledel, who plays Rory Gilmore. 

Fans have speculated that Bucatinsky is likely portraying a new love interest for Rory or at least a co-worker in the school where Rory teaches. This may mean he will be given some significance over the course of the mini-series but it does not immediately mean he will win Rory's love and affection as her former boyfriends will be making an apperance as well.

However, the report does point out that Warner Bros. has not yet confirmed Bucatinsky's involvement in "Gilmore Girls." While the actor may have a small role in the series it is also possible he is serving as a behind-the-scenes producer as he does for shows like "Grey's Anatomy," "The Comeback" and "Who Do You Think You Are?"

It is also possible that the actor has nothing to do with the mini-series, given that the studios have declined to confirm his involvement, and that he was simply visiting the set of the show. However, the actor's Instagram posts did imply he was working while on the set, which indicates he will star or at least serve as a producer.

"Gilmore Girls" has no current release date but it is expected to launch before the end of the year. Instead of 20 or so episodes, however, the mini-series will release four episodes that are 90 minutes long each.
