Chinese smartphone companies are on the rise, and Gionee is no exception to that.

Earlier, it was reported that Lenovo's K3 Note was able to beat Samsung's Galaxy S5, and HTC's One M8, and OnePlus One in AnTuTu's benchmarking score while only carrying a $145 price, showing how Chinese smartphone firms are able to release handsets at a budget-friendly price and still deliver impressive performance across devices. Similarly, Gionee plans on holding its ground against the leading flagship handsets with its own powerful Elife S8.

According to the image posted on GFXbench, Elife S8 features a 1440p display rendered on a surprisingly small 4.6-inch screen. Due to that small screen size, the pixel per inch value is increased to 639, which is extremely high compared to Samsung's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, both boasting a PPI value of 577.

In terms of hardware specifications, the Gionee smartphone is expected to be a mobile powerhouse, thanks to its octa-core ARM's Cortex-A53 processor that features a base clock frequency of 1.9 GHz. Elephone's P7000 also possesses the same processor but was clocked at 2.0 GHz, thus the Elife S8 could have the same performance. 

While the following has yet to be confirmed, the smartphone is said to be fitted with MediaTek's MT6795 SoC. Additionally, the Elife S8 houses 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of on-board storage, and a rear camera sensor that has a maximum image snapping resolution of 24 megapixels. Not only this, but users will be able to record 4K vidoes (most likely at 30 FPS) from that rear shooter. 

While the design of the upcoming smartphone has not been stated in the image, Gionee is particular when it comes to slim form factors. This was displayed when the company showcased its Elife S7 at the 2015 Mobile World Congress, which was kicked off in Barcelona last month. The smartphone features a thickness of just 5.5 mm, indicating that the firm might be following the same suit for its Elife S8.

The company has not given word on when its upcoming flagship offering is going to be announced so a confirmation period cannot be provided at this time.
