It seems like the rumored "Elementary" crossover in the next season of "Girls" will not happen after all.

In a report posted on TV Line, the rumors about the alleged appearance of "Elementary's" Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu have been debunked, but Liu will still be featured in "Girls" season 5 on her own. According to the report, Liu will not be playing herself in the series. Instead, the actress will play a different version of herself.

Based on the set photos published by the Entertainment Weekly, Liu was seen wearing her badge and sporting a gun on her waist while talking to an untidy Adam (Adam Driver) who is obviously acting. Does this mean that Adam landed a role in Liu's police procedural series?

Bringing Liu in HBO's original comedy-drama does not take too much effort for her and the production's part, since both "Girls" and "Elementary" shoot at the Silvercup Studios in Long Island City. The stars of both series could have already bumped into each other while filming their respective shows.

Aside from Liu's guest appearance, it is also reported that Hannah (Lena Dunham), Marnie (Allison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke), and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) will deal with the very short season 4 time jump, after Hannah turned down Adam's rekindled interest to give their relationship a try and decided to start dating Fran (Jake Lacy).

Actor Andrew Rannells also said that his character Elijah Krantz will find love in "Girls" season 5.

"I can tell you that Elijah gets to have a attempt to a real relationship which is very exciting," the actor told E! News during the Veuve Clicquot Classic. "Romance is the big thing for him, but the huge, mature stuff for him this season is actually trying to have a relationship." .

Elijah's last known relationship was with Hannah back in college, but he turned out to be gay. The actor who will portray the role of Elijah's new love interest is still unannounced at the moment.

"Girls" season 5 is slated to air on HBO early 2016.
