Studio executives have cottoned on to the demand for faith-based productions and the next one in the pipleine over at Fox is Nazareth, looking at the early years of Jesus's life.

Deadline.com reports that the studio has pulled in Gladiator writer David Franzoni and producer Bob Cooper of Landscape Entertainment to work on the TV series. 

It's understood Nazareth will explore Jesus's years between 13 and 30, when he started his public ministry, a period in his life for which there are very few records.  

According to Fox News, the series has been inspired by History Channel's The Bible, produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey. 

The TV miniseries was a ratings hit for the channel, pulling in 13.1 million viewers to its first episode.  The film version, Son of God, went on to take in $60 million at the box office.

Burnett and Downey have just signed on for a remake of the epic 1959 movie Ben-Hur and are promising it will be the "most anticipated movie of 2016".

There has been a flurry of faith-based productions both on the big and small screen, with Noah, Heaven is for Real and God's Not Dead all performing well at theatres in the last month.
